Whitehall the 20th. ffebruary/ 1692/3
Sir
I had not sooner an opportunity of acknowledging
your two Letters of the 26th of July & 25th of October last.
Accompanying the proceedings of the Councill & publick papers
and at the same time I am glad take leave to congratulate with you your
being appointed Secretary of Virginia for which office you have
now his Majesty Letters patents whereof I wish you joy. This
Convyeance will bring you little Business from hence and that
which is most considerable is an act for Ports with a duplicate
of her Majesty Letter directing the Alterations that are thought
requisite here. HIs Excellency will at the same time receive
another Letter in order for passing a Law against exportation of
Bulk Tobacco wherein it is not doubted the Councill & Assembly will
readily concurr.
The Season now approaches for the King King's returne
into fflanders where I shall have the honor to attend upon his
Majesty and be glad of an opportunity of giving you further
assurances of being
