Sir

Your last of the 19th May at Windsor I haue receiud as also the
paper of occurrences for which I am much obliged and doe return
you my most kind thanks for that and all your other fauours of all
which (I assure you) I'll euer retaine a gratefull Sense. I haue as yett
noe opportunity of conveying any Letters for England but by Such Shipps
as are bound for Holland after touching at some port in England to
Cleer soe that I doe not think fitt to giue you at present any large
account of the affaires and late Conferrence betwixt me and my friend
Mr William Pen who about the 24th of last october arriued in Delaware
Riuer where after he had bin some time he writt me word that he
had a great desire to confer priuately with me in order to which he
proposed to come as Lowe as Wye Riuer on the East Side of my Bay
in Answer to which letter I signified that I would send him my yacth
to Bohemia Riuer at the head of Chesapeake Bay thence to bring him
to Ann Arundell Riuer to which Riuer he came the 11th of December
Late and vpon the Report of the Gunns of the shipping in that Riuer
which I had orderd should be giuen at this Arriueall I mett him as
he landed in South Riuer the 12th and that day came with to Collonell
Thomas Taillers house where lodgings were prepared for him and his
Company. The 13th in the morning early he desired to haue Some
priuate conferrence with me and after he had discourst some little
time I told him that I though it best and safest for us both to
haue our Conferrence afore the persons and Gentlemen of the councill
of both Sides at which he seemed at first a little surprised vpon which
I further added that I had a great desire that an affaire of that
Nature might be publick which would be most to the Satisfaction
of the Inhabitants of both Collonies he at last replied that it was
Just and honnorable what I requested and vpon this the Chiefe
persons he had with him were called in as also were theose Gentlemen
of my councill that I had orderd to be with me After this I
order'd the Clerk of my councill to take in short hand as much of the
conferrence as he could which accordingly was don the which

I will speedily send you and then giue you the large account of all
that past in publick and in priuate. Wee are to meete againe some
time in March next, and hope then to ascertaine the ffortieth degree
of North Latitude This being all I shall at present trouble you with
