Accomack in Virginia:
July 3 : 1694.

Sr.

By the ship Virginia Merhant of Plymouth William Gennis
Master. I sent you a larg packett which I hope is come safe to
you: the Indians on the Norther part of Potomack are
gott in a fort haue kild a man & are 300 strong. Sr.
Thomas Laurence sent an Expresee to Sr. Edmundd Andros advising
that some Indians belonging to Virginia are joined &
tis feare more will soon come in to make a war vpon the
Marlyanders : in no Capacity to defend themsleues. their Army
some Embezzled more vselesse. their Pouder weake for want
of due care to order it & no quantity of Shott to be found.

I came hither to enquire after a ship of Glasgow which the
Commissioners of the Customs lately advised me of. I make many such
voyages to little purpose: this is by Captain Crompton Master of the
Lyon of Leverpool whom I meet here being droue in by
bad weather: Collonell Nicholson is much wanted in Maryland. I
am preparing for my Journey to New England: my humble Service
to Mr: Povey. I haue wrote largely to Mr Southwell to whom pray
giue my humble Service I am Sr
