Carlisle the 25 Aprill 1681
Sr
I received yours of the 18 instant, and am sorry to find
how hard it has gone with Sr Henery Morgan, which
will not only tend to his ruine, but his disgrace, and
what is harder upon him, their giving Mingham the
Liberty of the Law against him, will hinder his
coming hither to justifie himselfe, which I am
confident he will be desirous to doe;
I pray lett me know how matters proceed
in the busines off Jamayca, this will discourage
a great many there, that are the most affectionat
men to the Kings seruis, this place affords nothing
to tell you but that I am
your very affectionate
humble servuant
Carlisle
Sr Chalrs Muddiford
and Collonell Theador Cary
