The Case of Joseph Pochin and John Milner Prisners at St. Iago de la Vega in Jamaica

Joseph Pochin & John Milner
were both condemned for
murther in Jamaica but under
such circumstances that The
Earle of Carlisle thought them
fitt objects of mercy by a pardon
to bee granted them. But there
being a Clause in His Commission
whereby ^ the Pardon of Treason & Wilfull
murther are is reserved unto
His Majesty ^ alone The Governor having
only power to reprieve such offenders
in such Cases; The Earle of
Carlisle has therefore reprieved
The Prisners above mentiond and
by this Certificate does represent
them to His Majesty as deserving
His Gracious Pardon for of the offences
for which they are condemned
