Sir Jamaica the 18th. October 1687.

Understanding the Lord ships are not gone, I
make this short addicion to informe you, that we haue
news from the Wreck of the 10th Current. that there were
upwards of 20 Sloopes at worke upon it of which
there were 10 from hence & as many from Ber:
mudos, (who were there long before any of our's
arrived) one from Antego & a Pynk from
England; that our people had gotten about tenne
tonne & had sent downe far more Divers, that
the Bermudas men had gotten much more &
that they hoped in some little tyme to get
downe to the Massy Plate

If they arriue here in my tyme, I shall bee
very carefull in receiving his Majesties Tenths
my misfortune being not to be a ryall concern'd
in any of the said Sloopes, Tho I have been told
that there is not a man upon Port Royall, that is
worth 100li who is not, some way or other an
adventurer I am with all due respect
