An abstract of the Sentence given in the King's-bench
Between John Blancard provost Marshall general
of the Island of Jamaica of the one part, and
Lewys Galdy his Deputy and Lawrence Galdy Security
for the said Lewys Galdy his brother of the other
part. the Earths-quake being happened in Jamaica
the said Galdys refused to pay to the said John
Blancard 400 Ld a year according to their Contract
pretending that it was to be annulled by Virtue of
the Statute of Edward the 6th which prohibiteth the
Exercising of offices by Deputyes and to receive for
any money by Contract, But being reply'd by the said
John Blancard, that this Law was made with respect
to England only and never observed in Jamaica where
such Laws only are in force as the King by advice
of his Councell think fit to establish, the Said Galdys
were cast and Condemnp and the said John Blancard
maintained in his office as followeth

Therefore a day is appointed to both the said partyes
here in Court before our Soveraint Lord and Lady
the King and Queen at Westminster on Wednesday
next ensueing the octaves of St. Martins to consider
of the premises for the Said Court is not
yet come to a Resolution therein at which day
the partyes afore said by their attoruneys did
appeare whereupon the Court having seen and
fully understood and Examined the premises in question
and having taken mature deliberation thereupon, Now,
for that the said Court is of opinion that the plea

which the said Lawrence Galdy Pleaded by way of
Replication, and the matters therein contained is not
sufficient to barr the said John Blancard from obtaining
his action against the said Lawrence Galdy,
thereupon it is considered by the said Court that the
aforesaid John Blancard shall recover his aforesaid
debt, as also, eleven pounds for the damages he hath
Sustained by reason of the reason of the detaining the same and
for his Costs and Charges Expended in this suit which
is taxed and allowed by the said Court.
