Honoured Sr   Barbados, November 18th 1706

I wrote to you last of the 15th August past, which I hope is come safe to your honors hands,
their hath been nothing yet transacted by the Cassuall receiuer, soe haue had noe
oppertunity of Stateing nor Examining any public accountts in order to transmitt
the same home to your honor, nor I haue noe Speedy prospect of doeing anything
of moment yet, Collonel John Wiltshier the late Cassuall receiuer haueing departed
this life before he could Effect any business relateing to his office, I haue sometimes
waited on Collonel Benjamin Bullard, who is Surviueing Executor to Captain Charles
Thomas deceas’d, and haue discours’d him about the money due from the said Thomas’s
Estate to the Queen, but as yet hath had noe effect, a small time before Collonel
Wiltshier dyed, I waited on him to put him in mind of prosecuteing that matter,
and then wee both concluded to proceed against Captain Thomas Estate as far as the
law would admitt of, but Collonel Wiltshier’s dyiing soe soon after hath occasion'd
a further delay. I shall not neglect doeing my duty in this matter, allthough
I am affraid Captain Thomas’s Estate will not pay the debt Collonel Bullard
affirms their’s nothing of his Estate to pay any of his debts, but the truth of
that is not strictly pryed into. I advised Mr. Barwick of Collonel Wiltshier’s
death by the last packet boat, who I hope hath communicated the same to your
honor, Sr upon further Serious consideration of your honors deputation, if your honor
hath not thought of any other person better quallified for your Service in that
Station then myselfe; I shall readily obey your honors Commands and will undertake
to Serue your honor as your Deputy, and in all other concerns to the uttmost of my
abillity, and hope your honor will put a favourable construction on what I haue
allredy transacted, being fearfull of Engageing into any business beyond my appre
hention, but I will Endeavour to take the best advice & Information I can to Serue
your honor, allthough I am fearfull, shall be able to doe little or noe business, untill
their’s Some other person appointed to be Cassuall receiuer, in the place of Collonel
Wiltshier, I haue nothing further of Moment worth your Hono’s observation, doe
