Virginia the: 10th: of August: 1695

Sir

The midle of last month some
strange sculking indians kiled a
planter, in the vper parts of James
Riuer neare his howse, and tho
pursued, as soon as men gott
togeather; Could nott be found in
the woods nor haue been heard of since
The Eight instant I went to the
laying the foundation and first
brick of the Coledge building
ordered by their Comitee to be
that day, is all materiall since the
fleet sailed the 17th: of June.
I pray your Continued favor
on my Endauors for His Majestys
seruice in these parts and am
