usetts Bay in New England May 30th: 1692.

Sir

I am unwilling to omitt any oppertunity of acquainting
you with the posture of their Majesties affaires Although I
have but little to say at present; for the short time Since
my Landing could not produce much, onely that the harts
of the People here are very much Transported with joy &
their mouths filled with expressions of Thankfullnesse
to their Majesties, And I doubt not but the more they con=
sider the greatness of the favours bestowed upon them
the more thankfull they will bee, And this does presage
a happy ^& easy Settlement of their Majesties ^Royall Authority here.
As soon as I could assemble the Councill according to his
Majesties Command in my instructions I caused his Royall
Charter granted to his Subjects of his Province of the
Massachusetts Bay to bee publiquely read, as alsoe his
Royall Commissions to mee granted as his Governor of
the said Province, I then tooke the oaths and Subscribed
the Declaration accordinge to the Charter, And at the
same time the Leiutenant or Deputy Governor The
Secretary and Councill were Sworne, I have Since
Issued out writts for chuseing representatives to serve
in the generall Court, which is appoynted to meet
at Boston the eight day of next month, in order to the
Compleat settling their Majesties affairs, and the peace
and security of this Province, which I hope will have a
speedy and happy conclusion (and (as my great duty
to their most sacred Majesties whose interest and favour is
Dearer to mee then my life) I will to the utmost of my
power contribute thereto. I have moe more to add, but
with all imaginable respect Subscribe my selfe. Siz,/em>r
