Jackson my Clarke, (whome I dispatched to give you
a true and exact account, of the condition of this their
Majesties Province to the preventing of ffalse reports and
Calumnies) which I hope you are before this satisfied of
and having this oportunity I could not without disper
sing with the trust their Majesties have reposed in mee,
omit to acquaint you of what since hat Ocurred
humbly intreating you to lay the same before their
Majesties

On the 23d of December last I sailed for Pemaquid in
order to meet the Sachems of the Indians and to bee
informed of their behaviour and ffidelity to the articles
made with them, at my arrivall I found that their
Majesties Ennemies the ffrench, had used their utmost
endavours to break the same, but they have been
without success, for the Indians have without the
any difficulty changes their hostages which are kept
att Boston as pledge for their ffidelity.

The Indians also Informe mee that the small
Pox is very sore at Quebec and sweeps away many of
the Inhabitants and Indians, which seemes incoura
ging for an attack upon them in the spring, if their Majesties
think fitt, and with some assistance from England
If their Majesties are pleased to commit the Conduct of their
fforces unto mee, who am ready to serve their Majesties, in
that Expedition with my life and fortune, I doubt not
but by Gods assistance to reduce that place to their Majesties
obedience, and of what honour and advantages it would
bee to the English Crowne I submit to your Judgement
