New Yorke October: 3: 1688.

Sr.

I am desired by Mr Robert Leviston Merchant of Albany
to acquaint you that of that Larg account of 6400lb
ect: offred by Collonell Dongan to the Councill there
is due to him by Seuerall Articles which I haue
pervsed & seen signed by Collonell Dongan : amounting to
the Summe of 2484lb: he has been promised payment
of the whole but has receiued not aboue 155lb : hauig
come to a ballance but lately of the whole account
(the want thereof is greatly to his prejudice.

Its very vncertain how or where this money may bee
orderd to be paid : I am well assured tis a just debt
& his respects to Collonell Dongan & the Kings Seruice has
made him thus far lanch out his Esate: he sends
authentick Copyes of all his Estate accounts to his Correspondent.
Mr Jacob Harwood whom I recommend to be directed
by you as on occasion may require: if in England then
that Mr Harwood may haue tymely notice of it and so I
desire you to giue me notice how Collonell Dongan
succeedes in this business : that Mr Leviston may bee
either with you or in this Country secured of his
just Due he will be very gratefull for your favour
herein & thereby you will oblige Sr
