New Hampshire October 20th. 1684.

Sir,

I received your kind Letter, wherein you are pleased to
give me further assurance of your ffriendship; and at this time the circum=
stances of my affairs make me presume to call upon you for it, by reques=
ting you to do what good offices you can for me to their Lordships as far as Justice
& equity will permit. These inclosed Papers are to show my innocence as to the
Charge of my factious Enemies here. As their Lordships are zealous for Justice, so
I doubt not but they will be so far tender of my Reputation, that if the Complaints
make not out their Charge, there may be direction given for me to have my re=
medy at Law. Mr Randolph has a Letter of Atturney from me, but I have very
good reasons to bar his acting in any respect for me, which shall be communica=
ted to you hereafter: which I pray signify to their Lordships that I do revoke my
Letter of Attorney. Sir I am

your most faithful humble Servant
Edward Cranfield

As yet the Kings Letter is not
come to hand; I have given my
Adversaries notice what Affi=
davits I have taken in my own
defence; & Mr Chamberlain
has Order to give them Copies
