Honored Sr
I received the favour of yours of the
fifth of January last, for which returne you humble thankes.
I suppose ere this comes to hand you will haue an Account
of Colonel Bacons death; I haue acquainted the Lieutenant Governor
& Councill with the State of his Accounts & his Executor is
orderd to attend att the Audit (which is to be on the 21th:
of next moneth) when hee will bee oblidged to pay
what appears due to their Majesty's or giue good Caution
for the Same, of which shall giue you a full Account:
Our Lieutenant Governor & Councell understanding the £103: 15:9
(formerly order'd Colonel Sloughter by Exchange) was deposited
by Mr Cortland for the uses intended at first, directed mee
to giue orders for the immediate payment of the mony
& to acquaint you therewith which I formerly did by One
Tufton, who I understand was driven by Stress of
Weather into Piscatoway in New England, for which reason I
haue presumed to trouble you therewith again.
