Whitehall: 1st July 1685

The Business that Necessarily attends my
office by reason of the present disurbances
obliges me
obliges me to referr your Excellency
to Mr Povey for the News & particular
Informations, His Maiesty's Letter contains
an Abstract of all Publick Matters &
I am may further assure your Lordship the King
will soon have 40000 men in Pay till
all things be fully setled, there are
three scotch Regiments already come out of
Holland & 3 English Regiments Expected so that
your Excellency may see his Maiesty has taken
all imaginable precautions, by which
deed the greatest difficulties are already
surmunted, as we hope the Rebells in the
West will be dispersed in few days

I will write your Excellency again & more
at large by the Ketch his Maiesty just
now sending to releive Captain Allen In
the

the mean while I am to acknowledge
your Lordship's letters of the 13 of february & 20th of
March & humbly to thank your Lordship for
the intended present of the present of the product of the
Country, The Prosecution of my Lord
Baltimore is respited till all things
be more quiet but I have reason to
beleive his Maiesty is resolved to bring the
Province under his own Government &
when that is done your Lordships Pretentions
I beleive will be the fairest & most
reasonable to be laid before his Maiesty<b/p>
