Whitehall the 18th: of February 1692/3

Sr

Vpon your return to Virginia I
desire you would do me the favour to represent
to the Gentlemen of the Councill and Assembly the
Gratefull Sence I have of their good opinion of
my readiness to Serve the Country on all occasions
wherein his their Majesty's Service and their welfare
may be concerned, and in particular to return
my thanks for the confidence they ^ have reposed in me
by their Letter of the 30th. of Aprill last, letting
them know that the Act for Ports has indeed
Suffered great debates and Examinations from
the differing Interests of the Merchants, But
that nevertheless Such a [illegible] is made of it
as that without any considerable alteration
it may finally pass the Assembly and
take place hereafter with all the Success
and good effects that were at first proposed.
You will please further to acquaint them
that the Settlement of a free school and
Colledge

Colledge, has mett with been approved of by their Majesty's
acceptance and that a Charter of Incorporation
is past for encouragement thereof and a
Royall Gift made for their Support. That
the Two Addresses to their Majesty's have
been duly presented and received very graciously
by them. These being the Cheif matters I
have been entrusted with, which have been and
accordingly perform'd, you may further
add and assure the Same Gentlemen that I
Shall always Employ my utmost endeavours and Credit for the promoting in in every thing
else ^ that may promote the Interest of their Majesty's Colony
& Dominion of Virginia and ^ & end to the Satisfaction of
the Councill and Assembly and applying what
has been appointed by them, for the publick
use and benefit, being withal
