Virginia April 21st. 1697.

Honored Sir

By the Bristoll Fleete I gave you the trouble
of my Infirmities of the Gout which occasion'd
the assistance of Mr Jennings that there
might not be the least Neglect in his
Majesties Service I humbly pray your favourable
Representacion of the same Mr. Jennings
is a Gentleman of very good Esteeme, with
his Excellency and the Councill and will
acquit himself with honor in this service
and as I am able I shall be active in
my Duty and in what ever Servise you
shall please to Command
