Whitehall the 20 May 1711

Sr.

Vpon the death of Co my Late Deputy Collonell Diggs
and Mr. Perry and Collonell Blakiston having recomended
you to me for supplying his place I am very
glad to find by them you are willing to
accept of my Deputation as Auditor upon
the same terms and in the same manner as Collonell
Diggs so that I have prepard a Instrument
of Deputation as usuall but the business of
the Treasury being ^ for a little suspended untill the [illegible]
shall giue the White Staff to Mr. Harley which is
expected very soon, I have in the meanwhile
desird Collonell Spotswood to enable you in pursuance
of His Instructions to act as Auditor, if there
be occasion, untill my deputacion shall actualy
arriue and pray you to undertake that charge
accordingly.

I have informed Collonell Blackiston and Mr. Perry
what the Agreement was between myself and Collonell Diggs
and my self a copy of whose Acompts between
us I have left with Mr. Perry that he may
be the more fully appriz'd. whereupon he and Mr. Perry & he
the Collonell [illegible] have engaged themselves for your
performance ^ in every respect and I shall be glad you will give
yourself the trouble to confirm the same by letter according
to the former Agreement with Collonell Diggs. I shall
be glad to do you any service in these parts [illegible]
