Jamaica May 11th 1688

Sr

I writ to the Lords of the Comittee the 2nd Instant by
Captain Browning a Bristoll man, having very little of moment to
Impart to them, but Somthing has hapened Since here concerning
some French Pirates, or Privateers who came in upon the Kings
Proclamacion, A Spanish Merchant Seigniour St. Iago has
brought into this Island, Surreptitiously obteind, from the
Bishop of Cuba or Chapter of St. Christopher, and Ecclesiasticall
Power much in prejudice to his Majestys Prerogative, and Dr.
Churchills Function, a true Copy of the Originall paper from
Cuba, and a relacion of the proceedings against St. Iago are in=
closed in a letter to the Lords of the Committee, The whole pro=
ceedings you will finde in the Minutes of the Councill which I
have sent you, Collonell Molesworth I suppose will be in Towne
at the same time with this, The Moyety of the Sallary and
Perquisites &c: will come into dispute before his Majesty in
Councill, I hope theire Lordships will not think I deserve it
less now, than when his Majesty was pleased to grant it to me
by an Instrucction, I desire your Assistance to my Councill
who must be concerned in it, and what you do for me in
this shall be Owned with gratitude from
