Jamaica Aprill 2d: 1691

Sr

you will have Soe Ample an Accompt of all
transactions heer in this place that what I
can Say will Seeme rather Impertinent than
Satisfactory and ware it not for my promise
you Should not have bin troubled with this

The Spanyards Lately fell upon the ffrench at
Porta Sea on Spaniola and gave them a totall
Route killed them at Least 1200 tooke two Consi
derable Shipps Burnts Severall houses And now
my Lord has Sent away his Son as Major Generall with the
Swan the Garnsey and three Sloopes and toomorow
there ffollows the Joseph Captain Brookes taken up for
his Majesties Service with the Ketch and one or two
Sloopes more all Designed to Cleer that Coaste of their
Shipping and occation offers to Land upon them
All that we heare they have about all that Island
is A Shipp of about 24 Guns A Brigganteen A Pinke
And 3 or 4 Sloopes all well fitted and maned We have
hopes that our ffleet will be with them before they
gett out the Pinke Lately tooke a Bristoll man
Bound for this place Loaden with Coales and A Little
provisions My Lord has putt me into the office of
Receiver Generall whare I Shall always want your ffavour
I humbly begg of you to write to Captain WillSon to
be Assistant to mee and to my Lord for the Continuance
of his favours towards me I will be Suer to Doo Every
thing that is just and honest Soe that you Shall never
have occation to repent of your Recomendation
Our Treasury is very much Indebted by the Severall
Chargeable Expeditions against the ffrench and we
