Bermudas March the 10th:
1696/7

Sir

I hope my Letters by way of Barbados, and by another Sloop that went
from this Island for England is safely arriv'd in which I sent you
the Coppy of the association enterd info by the inhabitants of this
Island, I now send you the Originall by Captain Stowe who thought to haue
been in London long before this time, after six months passage I
had the honor to receiue yours with the Lords letter, and a coppy of
the association, which I haue sent home subscribed by the by the inhabita
nts of the Island with a great deale of Readiness & willingnesse
except four quakers. I haue likewise sent home to the Lords a par
ticular of all matters relateing to Mr Richier and myselfe (in
which cause I intreat you not to be my Enemy) I haue in all respects
given a dew obedience to the Kings order of Councill of the 19th of
December 1695 as will appear in the papers I haue sent to you
under the Publick seale of the Island, I haue wrott a Letter to my
Lord Scarborough to intreate him with your selfe to deliver the
association to the King, that and all other papers my Nephew
William Brooke will waite on you with them, complaints will make
no man Easey, I with the Goverment of Bermuda were under
those circumstances to me that I were in a capacity to oblige
you, I am really lost of thatt here altogether destitute, I can
only lett you Kno that I should be infinitly proud on all Occati
ons to subscribe my selfe, that I am
